Coaching provides fresh insights that offer new perspectives on a challenging situation, affirming feedback that brings new clarity and confidence, thought-provoking questions that lead to breakthrough thinking and new possibilities, the opportunity to set meaningful and powerful goals and take effective action that creates and sustains the desired change.
The Client-Coach Relationship
Forming a foundation of trust in the Client-Coach relationship is essential for a true thought partnership to be created and experienced. Coaching is based on the premise that every Client is creative, resourceful and whole, and each an expert in his/her own life. Achieving successful and sustainable outcomes happens when both the Coach and Client are prepared and committed to fully engage in the process of inquiry, feedback, and accountability.
The Coach’s role and responsibilities are to:
- Discover, clarify, and align with what the Client wants to achieve
- Encourage Client self-discovery
- Elicit Client-generated solutions and strategies
- Hold the Client responsible and accountable.
The Client understands that he or she:
- Ultimately responsible for their own growth and progress
- Will make their best efforts to do the work with openness, commitment and diligence
- Provide candid feedback during the coaching engagement to ensure that the Coach is designing an optimal learning experience that meets their goals
